The GPI’s Player of the Year and Top 300 Rankings saw a few minor tweaks this week again, although
PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu has successfully retained his top spot on both of those lists and it now appears increasingly likely that he will in fact manage to finish on top at the end of the year.
In the Player of the Year race, the top 6 remained unchanged: Negreanu is still first, with 1,130 points, followed by Ole Schemion in second with 1,026. Mike Watson and Philipp Gruissem are next, followed in turn by Bryn Kenney and Shannon Shorr.
Marvin Rettenmaier – another regular customer of the top 10s of these rankings – was the only one who managed to move up: he gained 2 positions, landing in 7th place. As a result of Rettenmaier’s move, Both Paul Volpe and Scott Seiver lost a place, landing in 8th and 9th places respectively. Ravi Raghavan wraps up the current top 10.
Things stayed pretty much the same for the GPI 300’s top 10 as well. Daniel Negreanu retained his lead there too, with 3,385 points. Philipp Gruissem is second on this list, followed by Marvin Rettenmaier in 3rd.
Ole Schemion and Shannon Shorr are 4th and 5th. None of the above said players made any moves up or down this week.
David Peters on the other hand climbed a place, into 6th place at Bryn Kenney’s expense, who dropped a spot into 7th.
Jonathan Duhamel was the other climber: he made his way from 10th into 9th.
A total of 5 players broke into the GPI 300 for the first time: Rens Feenstra, Leo Fernandez and Stephen Bokor were joined by David Diaz and Mihai Manole. The biggest gainer of the week was Nicolau Villa-Lobos, who climbed 52 spots. The biggest loser was Gavin Smith (he dropped 99 places).
