GPI Movers and Shakers – Duhamel Back in Top 10

The GPI’s Player of the Year race took a bit of a not-too-surprising turn a while ago, when, following a string of truly impressive performances among which the addition of another WSOP bracelet to his trophy-case took center stage, PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu shot to the top, having accrued 1130.8 points. After he hit the top, Negreanu planted his feet there, and he didn’t move this week either. As a matter of fact, there were very few movers this week in the PoY top 10, the only significant stir being that of Shannon Shorr, who jumped into 4th place, having overtaken Paul Volpe, who is currently 5th. Mike Watson remained in second, followed by Ole Schemion in 3rd. Marvin Rettenmaier (6th), Ravi Raghavan (7th), Jonathan Duhamel (8th), David Peters (9th) and Philipp Gruissem (10th) rounded out the remaining top-10 spots.

Like the PoY race, the top 300 didn’t see a lot of bustle either, but there were a few important developments in its top 10 nonetheless. While Daniel Negreanu maintained his top spot there as well, and while everyone within the top 7 stayed put, David Sands moved up two places, from 10th into 8th.
Jonathan Duhamel’s 3-place ascent right into the top 10 (9th place) was the most spectacular move of the week. As a result of Duhamel’s and Sands’ moves, PokerStars pro Jason Mercier dropped two places, but he remained within the top 10.

The biggest gain made within the top 300 was that of Kiryl Radzivonau, who climbed 97 positions to land in 197th place. Ari Engel was among the biggest climbers as well: he moved up 57 places, into 165th place. Other big climbers were Salman Behbehani and Jacob Bazeley, but Keven Stammen and Eric Baldwin gained quite a few places too, not to mention Darryl Ronconi.
