GPI Tournament Rankings Update

The GPI’s ranking of the top 300 poker tournament players in the world went through quite a few changes this week, although the name at the top remained the same: Marvin Rettenmaier hung on to his lead, still with 3,115 GPI points to his name. There weren’t any new entries in the top 10, but there have been plenty of movers and shakers there nonetheless. Philipp Gruissem was the biggest loser of the week: he dropped 4 positions, from 2nd into 6th. The biggest climber was Steve O’Dwyer, who moved from 10th place into 8th.
Mike Watson – currently in second place – moved one position up. Other players who moved upwards were Bertrand Grospellier (currently 3rd), Bryn Kenney (currently 4th) and David Sands (currently 5th). Michael Mizrachi didn’t climb or drop: he remained in 7th place. Jason Mercier and Joseph Cheong both dropped a place.
The player to make the biggest upward leap outside the top 10 was Calvin Anderson, who climbed 70 positions, right into 208th place. Rocco Palumbo did pretty well too: he climbed 56 places and is currently sitting in 85th.
Kent Lundmark didn’t disappoint either: he climbed 31 places into 120th. While there were plenty of other players who moved upward, Michael Benvenuti missed out on the climb big time. As a matter of fact, he dropped 56 places. David Benyamine had a tough week as well: he ended up losing 49 positions. Isaac Haxton and John Juanda were among the big losers as well.

No fewer than 10 new players made their way into the top 300 this week. Ludovic Lacay and Martin Staszko were among the newly ascended, together with Brandon Cantu and Guillaume Darcourt.
To make room for the above said 10 players, 10 others had to drop out: Tristan Wade and Jude Ainsworth were among them.
