GPI Updates – Boeree Back in Top 300

The Global Poker Index’s Player of the Year race registered no changes whatsoever this week. Vanessa Selbst is still on top, with 383.1 points, which she earned thanks to her phenomenal 2014 PCA showing, which saw her take home tons of money from three different events. Alexander Denisov is still second, followed by Mike McDonald in 3rd. One of the few changes in the PoY rankings, outside the top 10, was Joe Kuether’s move into 12th place. The American has climbed an impressive 21 spots to land in his current position. Kuether has won a side event at the 2014 PCA, for which he took down a $136.2k reward, and he finished 14th in another PCA event (a $1k turbo one). He also made a deep run in the WSOP-C’s Choctaw Main Event.
Another player who moved up the ranks was Tom Hall, who landed in 17th after a 20-place gain. The justification of Hall’s upward move was in his PCA Main Event 10th place finish. He logged a deep run at the UKIPT’s Edinburgh Main Event too.

The top 300 registered few changes too, and none within its top 10. The player still leading the pack is Germany’s Ole Schemion with 3,916.9 points. He is still followed by PokerStars’ own Daniel Negreanu, with 3,846.8 points. Marvin Rettenmaier and Philipp Gruissem are 3rd and 4th respectively. Ravi Raghavan is the one currently wrapping up the top 10 with 3,217.6 points.
Some changes did happen further down the ranks though. Most notably, Liv Boeree, who finished second in the UKIPT’s Edinburgh Main Event just last week, popped back into the top 300, landing in 268th place. Others who made their way into the top 300 were Rasmus Agerskov Larsen, Yaron Malki, Kevin Eyster and Gary Benson.
