Gruissem’s Heater Continues

There is no doubt about it now: 2013 has definitely been Philipp Gruissem’s year as far as live (and online) tournament action is concerned. Thus far, Gruissem has amassed winnings totaling $4.6 million, the 4th biggest haul of the year, only bested by Ryan Riess, Jay Farber and Anthony Gregg, and each and every one of those players earned their monies in a single event of the
2013 WSOP: Riess won the Big Dance and Farber came in second, while Gregg won the $111,111 high roller.
Gruissem on the other hand had his profits spread out over several events. He won the WSOP’s Asia-Pacific High Roller, the WPT Alpha8 London as well as the WPT Alpha8 St Kitts. To add a cherry on top of his 2013 tournament cake, Gruissem won a FTOPS XXIV event the other day too.
The said event was event #2, the $1k
NL Holdem 6-Max Re-buy one, which earned him a $93.9k reward. On his way to the top, he bested a starting field of 423 players, including an opponent known as “BluffurBluff” whom he disposed of heads-up. Interestingly, “BluffurBluff” then went on to win event #12 of the FTOPS XXIV.
His superb tournament results only offer a partial picture of Gruissem’s outstanding 2013 though: he put in some time at the cash game tables too, and he has some $49.5k to show in profits for it.
One of the biggest pots Gruissem picked up was a $25.6k whooper, which landed on his side of the virtual table after a confrontation with an online player known by the moniker “Shark2u”. The hand started out a 4-way one, with the initial action kicked off by a player known as “4rebmun”. Another guy called “limmouse” was also involved in the hand besides Gruissem and Shark2u. Eventually though, everyone but Shark2u and Gruissem got out, and Gruissem’s pocket Qs won the pot.
