Gus Hansen Finally Wins Big

It isn’t exactly a secret to anyone who follows the poker and
online poker scene closely that Gus Hansen has had quite a disastrous year thus far. In fact, at one point he was down exactly $3,124,456 and needless to say, he had the biggest loser of the year title locked up tightly. On Tuesday however, he may have finally turned that downward spiral around: he managed to log a profitable session, during which he took down $1.57 million at
Full Tilt Poker’s Fixed Limit Omaha tables no less. Obviously, the win did not erase all his 2013 losses, but it certainly took the Great Dane one giant step in the right direction.
The carnage that Hansen unleashed on his opponents started at the FLO8 tables, where he took $61k from Kyle Ray. He then moved to the 2-7 Triple Draw tables where he found an excellent victim in Viktor Blom. He took around $182k from Blom and from Alex Kostritsyn, another player much better accustomed with being featured at the top of the winners’ list than with donating money by the 100ks to others.
Looking to exact some sweet revenge, both Blom and Kostritsyn then joined Hansen at the FLO8 tables, a move which proved to be quite a major mistake on their part. Hansen quickly took another $500k from them. Other players got involved later, like Phil Galfond, SallyWoo and Kyle Hendon, but only Hendon was able to take money away from the session.
Blom was the one who finished the day with the biggest loss.
All-in-all, he dropped $627.5k, having played 18 sessions and logged 2.1k hands. Kyle Ray had an up and down day, at the end of which he found himself $405.5k under the red line, after he dropped $722k to Hansen alone.
