Gus Hansen – last week’s biggest winner

The period between last week’s Tuesday and Thursday (the mid-week basically) was dominated by Gus Hansen once again. The Great Dane has had an amazing run for the past month, and his performance last week was an extension of that run.
When his winning spree started, he’d had a loss of $3.3million for the year. At the beginning of last week, he was “only” $2.5 million in the red, and he managed to erase a further $1 million of that, so he’s about $1.5 million down now.
The mid-week saw Hansen log 728 hands, spread over 14 different sessions. One of the biggest pots the Great Dane managed to collect during his latest winning run was a $80 pot which he took off DrugsOrMe, another player who’s exhibited streaky winning tendencies lately.
The pot came around at the $500/$1,000 Capped PLO tables, where Hansen played Ilari Sahamies and DrugsOrMe. None of the two players got out of the tussle without a 6 figure sum dropped to Hansen, but back to our hand: after the usual preflop give and take, the flop fell 4s,Ah,Kh, and Hansen sprung the trap by checking. DrugsOrMe walked right into it by firing out a $22k bet, which Hansen promptly called and the pot was capped. The turn and the river were run twice, and both times it was Hansen who emerged victorious, pocketing the $80k. A little bit later, Hansen pulled in another $80k pot in a rather similar fashion.

The biggest pot of the week was a $104k monster, for which UrNotInDanger2 hit quads on the river. The pot developed at the $200/$400 PLO tables, between Scott Palmer and cadillac1944. Palmer had pocket 3s and hit a set on the flop for the lead, but cadillac1944 caught up with him on the turn. The river, another 3, settled the issue for good though.
