Hansen and Blom to Square off in Full Tilt’s “Heads-Up Showdown”

It’s been a while since the online poker world could focus its attention on a truly monumental heads-up bout pitting two of the game’s greatest names against one another (as you probably remember, the last such affair was the vilely interrupted durrrr challenge), but the time for just that is finally here.
Gus Hansen, the Great Dane, and Viktor Blom fit the above description to a tee. The two Full Tilt Poker pros will sit down to the heads-up tables to play down to a winner this September, in the site’s Heads-up Showdown.
While the Heads-up Showdown isn’t anywhere near the durrrr challenge in scope and caliber, it will doubtlessly be one for the ages, one that will finally toss a much-desired bone to the poker press and the industry in general, providing promotional material as well as something to talk about for the masses.
Sign up to Full Tilt Poker now and railbird the Heads-up Showdown action when the time comes.

The event is scheduled to kick off at 14:15 ET, on September 14, and the prize-pool the two will do battle for is $50k.
According to Blom, the Showdown is about much more than money. Having skipped the EPT’s Barcelona stop, the Swede is obviously looking forward to spending some time in the limelight again.
The format of the battle is best-of-three, meant to reduce the role of the luck element as much as possible.
The first game variant was chosen by Hansen, and it’s Stud8. The second one is Blom’s choice: NL 2-7 Triple Draw. The third game variant will be decided by the public via the Full Tilt blog. The loser of the challenge will have to record a video of himself singing his opponent’s national anthem, or he will have to play 1,000 micro stakes Razz hands as punishment.
Sign up to Full Tilt Poker now, guess the winner of the above said Showdown and take down your share of a $50k prize-pool.
