The 12th season of the World Poker Tour kicked off with the Legends of Poker stop at the Bicycle Casino in California. The Legends of Poker event was a truly massive one as usual. The 593 registrants created a prize-pool of $2.17 million. It took the field no fewer than 5 days to play down to the finish line and a winner. In the end, Harry Arutyunyan was the one who walked away with the top prize. He pocketed $576.3k. Mike Eskandiari finished second, for $330.1k. Tyler Kennedy, Taylor McFarland and Tyler Cornell completed the top 5.

Mike Eskandiari had the largest stack at the beginning of the final day and he was the one who scored the first elimination too: he sent Jeremy Kottler packing in 6th place. Kottler’s reward was $83k.
The next elimination of the final table was a double one: Tyler Cornell and Taylor McFarland both bit the dust at the hands of Arutyunyan. The three players got all their chips into the middle before the flop. Cornell had a K,Jo, McFarland had pocket Queens and Arutyunyan had A, 10o.
The board fell A,9,3,2,2, giving Arutyunyan a pair of aces for the win. Despite Arutyunyan’s double elimination, Eskandiari still had the lead at that point in the event. He then busted Tyler Kenney in third place to further increase his lead.
Kenney’s reward was $213.6k.
At the start of the heads-up action, Eskandiari had a 4-1 chip lead. Arutyunyan was patient though: he settled in for the grind and after a 90-hand bout, he took home the top prize. The final hand saw Eskandiari’s A,7o fall to Arutyunyan’s Ah,8h.
