IPT Malta - Georgios Zisimopoulos Wins

The EPT's Malta stop also included the Italian Poker Tour's Malta Main Event this year, and while the EPT Main Event is still ongoing, the IPT's culmination has already gone into the books. The winner of what turned out to be the biggest event in the history of Italian poker was Greece's Georgios Zisimopoulos, who ended up taking down a €142.2k prize, following a 5-way deal at the top. This haul was the biggest one of the Greek player's career. He now has more than $500k to boast in live tournament profits, and close to $2 million in tournament winnings.
Zisimopoulos ended up with the biggest haul and he actually won the event too, so this time around the deal did not produce skewed results, at least as far as the winner was concerned. Jaroslaw Sikora on the other hand - who finished runner-up - ended up short-changed: he only took home €97.9k, much less than third-place man Nicolino di Carlo, whose reward tipped the scales at €119.5k.

Even Michael Feil - who finished 4th - ended up with more money to his name than Sikora: he took home €101.2k for his efforts. The last person who was part of the deal was Frederik Reusch, whose 5th place netted him €97.6k.
A total of 1,285 players took part in the event, each of them coughing up €1.1k. The generous prize-pool meant that a record 191 players got paid, and the money bubble burst towards the end of Day 2. Scores of "name" pros took part in the event and some of them reached the money too: JC Alvarado, Steve O'Dwyer, Griffin Benger and David Vamplew all made the money, although none of them finished particularly deep.
