Isildur1 accepts Tony G’s offer

As you probably know, about a week ago, PartyPoker professional, Tony G offered to stake Swedish mystery player Isildur1, for the PartyPoker Big Game IV, a massive cash game which will take place in London. Several other high profile online poker portal sites said he would pay for Isildur1’s transportation, as well as for his accommodation for the duration of the event. Quite naturally, he’d also cover the buy-in. The Big Game IV starts on April 11th and it will run for 48 hours straight, featuring players like Tony G, Isaac Haxton, Jennifer Tilly, Phil Laak and Luke Schwartz.
Tony G had issued the invitation in his blog at Party Poker, and he’d even arranged for Isildur1 to wear a mask to conceal his real identity if he was still keen on keeping it under wraps.

A few days after the offer was made, Isildur1 apparently contacted Tony G to let him know that he accepted the offer. The Swede would apparently show up for the Big Game, a decision which left Tony G quite delighted. The Aussie pro said he viewed Isildur1 as a friend, but that would not prevent him from crushing him at the tables. Whether or not Isildur1 will finally reveal his face has not been set yet. According to Tony G, the Swede is seriously considering the option of just showing up and letting people all over the world (the event will be televised) see his face, but the mask option is still being considered as well. That leaves us with one question: if Isildur1 does decide to play wearing a mask, how will we know whether he’s the real Isildur1 or not? It may as well be any random person under that mask, brought to the tables for the sake of publicity.
In his blog, Tony G has addressed that concern too. He said that if the whole thing did indeed come together, he would present infallible proof towards the identity of the player under the mask.

Why would someone like Isildur1 need staking in a game? After all, despite his recent downswing he may still be a multi millionaire. Or not…Anyway, this will be a freeroll for him, and an opportunity to possibly cash in on his online fame.
