ISPT Format Changed Again

The International Stadiums Poker Tour has gone through quite a few changes in 2012, even though the event has never really left the plane of theory yet. Its format was molded and shaped to the point that some of the experts began believing there would never actually be an ISPT event at Wembley Stadium this spring at all. It now looks like the organizers haven’t entirely given up on the idea though: they have recently announced yet another tweak to the structure of the event: instead of playing the preliminary stages of the event in the stadium stands, players will do it from home, through a selection of
online poker rooms which have struck up a partnership with the ISPT just for this purpose.
Indeed, the idea of providing players with thousands of mobile, hand-held devices, and expecting the sore losers no to take them home as a form of compensation, was rather far-fetched to begin with. This way, players will be able to play Day 1 of the
poker tournament at
Poker770, Lock Poker, Netbet.it and Partouche.fr.
The new format may carry several advantages for players (if the event does indeed take place after all): they will be able to play as many Day 1s as they want to. If they happen to advance several times, only their largest qualifying stack will be taken into account.
Since the day 1 action will pretty much have an online satellite format, players will be allowed to buy into the event directly too. The direct buy-in will cost a rather hefty €3k. The original buy-in would’ve been €600. According to ISPT president Laurent Tapie, the changes in structure came at the request of players.
Several “name” players have confirmed participation: Michael Mizrachi will play, together with Sam Trickett and Liz Lieu.
