Ivey Looking to Get Paid by UK Casino

Phil Ivey is set to make the London-based Genting’s Crockford Casino pay and he’s not backing off. A few months ago news broke that the
poker pro had been caught cheating at the casino, as a result of which, the latter decided not to pay out his winnings, totaling some $12.3 million, which Ivey had amassed at the Punto Banco tables.
There’s a different side to the story too though, one that is probably on the right side of justice too: Ivey claims that the technique he used to win all that money was edge sorting, which he considers to be a perfectly legitimate not to mention legal technique.
Ivey said that as a professional gambler, he wouldn’t be doing his job if he did not take advantage of the various statistical edges he’s able to cobble together from the information available to all players. Some of the methods he uses to gain the upper hand over the house are extremely intricate and risky, meaning that he is really putting a lot of money onto the line every time he walks into a casino to play.

Ivey also said it was not in his nature to cheat and that his reputation was worth a lot more for him than some momentary financial gains.
The above said litigious affair is not the only one of this nature Ivey’s engaged in right now. He has a similar case going in the US, against the Borgata, where he has amassed winnings of $9.6 million at the baccarat tables. Once again, the casino is unwilling to pay out his winnings. Obviously, Ivey has always considered these winnings of his perfectly legitimate as well.
