Japan's Ohyama Dominates 888poker Tournaments

888poker has been shaping up as a solid tournament destination lately: they run a number of attractive events every day, and we have been raving about their Whale ($150k event) in our promotions section.
Japan's Akira Ohyama has been taking advantage of all these great promotions. Ever since he cashed in the APT's Manila Main Event, the Japanese has been piling up the final tables in 888poker's various tournaments. While he only took down $1.46k for his above said APT effort, it was apparently well enough to set Ohyama onto a course of online poker tournament domination. His biggest result thus far is a second place finish in 888poker's The Whale, which saw him take down a $24k prize. The bigger picture is though that that same night, he also made the final tables of the Crocodile and the Monsoon.

Although none of his individual cashes were particularly impressive. Ohyama has apparently managed to amass profits totaling more than $1 million from online tournament action.
Thus far, Ohyama is Japan's second biggest online poker winner, behind only "yasunori66" who has some $2 million in profits.
As Ohyama frolics at their tournament tables, 888poker, or rather the company behind the brand and behind 888casino, 888bingo and 888sport, is looking to pull off a blockbuster move by acquiring the assets of the bwin.party Digital Entertainment Group. To accomplish that though, the 888 group will have to fight off Amaya gaming, PokerStars' parent company, which is also looking to consolidate its market position by picking up the attractive assets.
In still other 888-related news, on June 26, the 888Live Local kicked off in Tallinn, Estonia. The 3-day poker festival features a €20k Main Event and a host of attractive side-events.
Sign up to 888poker now and play in their live event qualifiers for a chance to play in the live tournaments sponsored by the site.
