Jason Mercier Wins Another SCOOP Event

A few days ago we featured a news-piece about Jason Mercier's two SCOOP wins. While winning two events of the prestigious series was indeed an outstanding accomplishment, Mercier didn't stop there. He has now won another SCOOP tournament, adding yet another title to his current tally. The event in which he now triumphed was the $2.1k
NL Holdem 4-max one, which - for a change of pace - featured a massive 6-figure top prize: he picked up $180k for his efforts. His two previous wins brought in smaller amounts, though frankly, the starting fields in those events were rather unimpressive too, compared to this one, in which he ended up besting a field of 398 opponents. In his latest win - unlike in the other two - Mercier struck a heads-up deal with runner-up Ryan Franklin. Franklin took down a respectable prize as well at $152.7k.

Being a bigger event, SCOOP-20-H played out over two days. At the end of the first day of action, the field had whittled down to the final 16. Because it was pro-heavy to begin with (on account of the $2.1k buy-in), the Day 2 field of the event still had pros like Jeremy Menard, Griffin Benger and Tom Middleton. There were only 4 players at the final table (it was a 4-max event). Besides Mercier and Franklin, Calvin Anderson and a player known as "TransSib" made the final stretch too. TransSib was the one who busted first, picking up $42.3k. Anderson ended up in 3rd place, for a $68.4k prize. The heads-up deal saw Mercier and Franklin divide the prize-pool, leaving some $8k to play for.
