Jeff Lisandro For Seven-card Stud Hi/Lo Gold!

Jeff Lisandro adds his name to the list of WSOP multiple-bracelet winners as he takes away event #37, the $10,000 World Championship Seven-Card Stud Hi/Lo.

Where does one starts; with the WSOP multi-bracelet winner or with the epic final day of play?! So much to report, so much to say: Jeff Lisandro was all smiles despite the hour, when he won his second bracelet of this series and his third ever as one of the longest final days of play seen in the 2009 calendar finally came to an end.  There were 164 entrants in the  WSOP 3-day $10,000 Word Championship event of which only 12 remained when final day play commenced at 1 pm in level 19.

It looked like it was going to be a quick day as the first elimination of the day came just 20 minutes in; that of Lyle Berman, and the action wasn't lacking as Scotty Nguyen went out in 11th, and his eliminator Perry Friedman went out just 2 hands later. The players moved to one table and play continued even though it wouldn't be real final table play until one more guy was out. That guy turned out to be Anthony Rivera and the final 8 moved to real final table play.

It was Doyle Brunson who was grabbing a lot of the attention as the enormous crowd cheered all of his wins, and thankfully they had something to cheer at because the next elimination wasn't to come for another 2 hours.  It was a long evening but the slow chain of elimination went Justin Smith, Doyle Brunson, Abe Mosseri, Yan Chen, Frank Mariani and Mike Wattle in a process that took several hours. It was gone midnight when final table play commenced, and it was following the theme of the day – slow, slow slow. Finally however, after three and a half hours of heads up play, Lisandro saw off Farzad Rouhani, and both could say a 13 hour day was well played!
