Jeffrey Lisandro dominates the final table of event #16

Jeff Lisandro managed to pull off one of the most amazing final table tricks of the 2009 WSOP: he steamrolled the final table on his way to his second WSOP bracelet in the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event (he acquired his first one in the $2,000 Seven Card Stud event, back in 2007), to a $127,975 first prize and to all the bragging rights than come with such an accomplishment.
Even though the final table failed to find the answer to counter Lisandro, it was not a rookie table by a long-shot. It included multiple WSOP bracelet winners Rod Pardey and John Juanda.

Lisandro started the final day of the event in the chip lead, an advantage which he never relinquished throughout the day.
Mitch Shock was the first victim of the final table. One of the shortest stacks, he was starting to feel the pressure of the blinds when he shoved all-in against Nick Frangos who proceeded to hit a set of Qs. Shock never showed his cards.

Daniel Studer became the 7th place finisher when he succumbed to John Juanda’s flush. He picked up approximately $15k for his efforts.

Jeff Lisandro would swing into action next. Eric Pardey bit the dust in 6th place, at Lisandro’s, hands, when his pair of 8s fell to the latter’s two pair.
5 players survived to the first break, but two of them would say goodbye to the tournament within 30 minutes of the re-start of the action. These two players were John Juanda, who was knocked out by Steven Stencil’s rivered boat and Nick Frangos, who fell to Jeff Lisandro’s two pair.

Steven Stencil got hit badly by Lisandro in a series of hands, in which he found Lisandro frustratingly unbeatable. Eventually, he was eliminated at the hands of Rod Pardey who gently pushed him over the edge, sending him home in third place, with a $50k prize in his pocket.

Lisandro held a sizeable chip advantage (about 3-1) over Rod Pardey as the final table action got underway and he wasn’t shy about hammering his edge home either. It only took him 40 minutes to tilt the balance his way decisively. The final hand of the tournament saw Lisandro hit an Ace-high flush to get Pardey out of the way, setting the record for the quickest WSOP 2009 final table finish.
