Joe Sebok: A New Face for UltimateBet
Posted by: James Carter. - Wed, 2009-09-23 13:47
The story began several months ago when UltimateBet first started pursuing Joe Sebok; it was a touch and go courtship, but this week Sebok finally signed on the dotted line.
This week is a good one for Joe Sebok, for UltimateBet, and for poker players around the world. After a long period of assessment and consideration, Sebok has signed with UltimateBet as both a sponsored player, a Media and Operations Consultant, and by the looks of things, an all round watchdog for things being done right. The decision to join UltimateBet was not a quick one for Sebok and in fact he spent several months observing the company and had some demands of his own before he was prepared to make a deal. Amongst his demands was that a higher level of transparency be met by UltimateBet and their parent company Tokwiro Enterprises following the recent scandals associated with the site. In a statement Sebok commented:
“UB and I first started talking about a possible relationship almost four months ago and I made it very clear that I couldn’t commit until that point in time when the names associated with the scandal began to be released… I now feel comfortable and excited about joining the team ... While this process isn’t entirely complete, I consider this to be one of my new responsibilities moving forward and intend to continue working very closely with Paul [Leggett] to ensure it happens. I am very happy to be joining Ultimate Bet today and look forward to our future.”
Paul Leggett, the Chief Operating Officer of Tokwiro Enterprises expressed great joy and excitement at the closing of the deal, commenting that
"We are ecstatic to bring Joe onto Team UB. He will not only serve as a pro player representing the brand, but more importantly will be instrumental in helping us create a poker site for and by poker players... I'll continue to work with him to ensure that we always do everything possible to satisfy the poker community’s concerns and will continue to work together to make UB the premier poker site. I couldn't be happier to welcome Joe to the team today,"
Surely that says it all – congratulations to UltimateBet and congratulations to Joe Sebok.
