Kaverman Joins Ranks of WSOP Bracelet Possessors

Poker pro Byron Kaverman is definitely no newbie to the poker tournament scene, but one thing that he had failed to produce over the years as a poker professional was a WSOP bracelet, until the other day that is, when he took down event #37 of the
2015 WSOP, the $10k Six-max NL Holdem championship event. With some $4.3 million in career tournament profits, Kaverman was certainly not after the money, but rather after the bragging rights and the jewelry, which he eventually got. Through his WSOP career, Kaverman made the money no fewer than 20 times, so from this angle too, it is safe to say that a bracelet win was overdue on his part.
Given the buy-in to the tournament and the stacked nature of the field, reaching the top was no easy task for Kaverman. Even the final table featured participants who had live tournament profits of some $13 million among them.

At the start of the home stretch of the event, Kaverman wasn't exactly in a good position chips-wise: out of the 6 remaining players, he was 5th. On the third hand of the final table he managed to double up though and he never looked back. The chips got into the middle on the turn, by which time Kaverman had already made a flush. The one responsible for giving Kaverman that boost was Sam Greenwood, who 30 hands later once again managed to double up the eventual winner. After that boost, Kaverman went to work and bounced Thomas Muehloecker as well as Fedor Holz. Eventually, he found himself heads-up with Doug Polk. The winner's share of the prize-pool was a handsome $657.3k.
