Kristen Bicknell Looking to Become Supernova Elite. Again

For most of the poker world, Kristen Bicknell’s name didn’t mean a whole lot before the 2013 WSOP. Bicknell may have earned her fame by winning her first WSOP gold and collecting a $173.9k prize in the process, but that doesn’t mean she hadn’t had any connections to the game before. In fact, she has always been one of the toughest grinders at PokerStars, working the $1/$2 and $2/$4 tables to mush, amassing 1 million VIP points per year for the last three years and reaching Supernova Elite status at the site time and time again. With all that in mind, it’s easy to see why Kristen, who plays at PokerStars under the moniker “krissyb24” calls herself the ultimate grinder. For a player at the $1/$2 tables, it takes about 2.5 million hands to reach the much-coveted Supernova Elite status.

Her WSOP win didn’t derail her online grinding efforts either. She basked in the limelight and she took the time to enjoy the sudden fame that she’d acquired, but she is now back at the online tables, doing what she does best: grinding away.
She started playing poker during her first year of university, having been introduced to the game by some friends and her boyfriend. She only took her game online at the beginning of her second year of university though.
Kristen also says that for her poker has never been a career, and therefore she doesn’t consider herself a professional player either. Unlike some of the other pros out there, she hasn’t squandered any of the money she took from the green felt either, and that really does kind of set her apart from your stereotypical poker professional. 2009 was when she started getting serious about grinding, at first with the aim of taking advantage of a cash-for-VIP-points promotion run by PokerStars.
Sign up to PokerStars and start grinding away. One never knows where the next Supernova Elite player will come from.
