Ryan Fee started the LAPT’s Costa Rica event final tale in the chip lead, and he controlled the hostilities all the way to the finish line.

Day 3 of the LAPT’s San Jose stop saw some extremely fast-paced action, as a result of which the 8 remaining players of an initial field of over 200 quickly evaporated from the table, leaving Ryan Fee in possession of the first prize of $285,773.

The final table action started with Ryan Fee holding a stack of 481,000 chips, Joel Micka with 336,500, Andrew Chen with 313,000, Jesus Bertoli with 265,000, Claus Rasmussen with 254,000, Brent Sheirbon with 186,500, Maria Stern with 151,000 and Jeffrey Petronack with 122,000.

Despite the pressure increasing on the short-stacks, the final table action began with a slower period of jostling around and waiting for someone to bust. Compelled to act, Maria Stern soon turned on the aggression though and went all-in several times preflop. Unfortunately for her though, the only time she found any action was when her K,J got called by Jeffrey Petronack’s pocket Qs on a board of 4,5,3,10,6.

Claus Rasmussen was the next player to put his tournament life on the line, on a pocket hand of Q,7 of diamonds. He got called by Joel Micka who picked up a pair of Ks, and even though he managed to pick a pair on the flop, Rasmussen failed to improve past Micka’s K,K.
Ryan Fee and Jeffrey Petronack went head to head next, on an A,K vs A,K match-up, with Fee’s A,K being suited. The flop hit him directly with a flush firmly settling the issue. To add insult to injury, the turn fell the Qs giving Fee a Royal Flush.

Ryan Fee was also responsible for the elimination of Andrew Chan next. Jesus Bertoli finished 4th, followed by Brent Sheirbon who was knocked out by Joel Micka.

The heads-up stage lasted for quite a few hands, as neither player came upon a hand he wanted to risk his tourney life on. Eventually, it was Micka who made the move on pocket 4s and got called by Fee on A,10. The flop and the turn gave Micka the advantage, but the A on the river spelt doom for him, sending him to the rail in second place.
