Lesniak Looking to Grant Wider Access to New Jersey Online Gaming

New Jersey State Senator Raymond Lesniak, the main promoter of the currently rolled-out online poker/gambling regulations, never rests when it comes to fulfilling his dream and goal of turning the Garden State into a global online gaming hotspot: he has just initiated a new bill, aimed at allowing
foreign online poker and gambling operators to set up shop in Atlantic City and to operate under the local regulations. These companies would not be allowed to offer real money games to New Jersey residents though.
What Lesniak is seeking to offer through the bill is credibility and financial security that online gambling/poker operators will thusly be able to boast. In return, he’s looking to pick up jobs and reputation which may translate into serious bargaining-capital for the Garden State in the years to come. Lesniak has vowed to get his new bill onto Gov. Chris Christie’s desk for signing by the middle of next year.
According to the text of the bill, it is aimed at authorizing the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement to provide licenses to foreign casinos, casino rooms and licensed operators, to run restricted foreign Internet gambling from New Jersey. The bill will require the licensees to maintain servers in the Garden State. The potential recipients of such licenses will only be allowed to peddle their online offers through foreign markets where the activities of online poker/gambling are legal. The tax laws applicable to the restricted foreign Internet gaming licensees shall be the ones in place in the jurisdictions where their online activities take place.
The entire online wagering operation, including the hardware infrastructure as well as the operating personnel shall be located within the state of New Jersey. Geo-location procedures to pinpoint and to confirm players’ locations will have to be implemented by all licensees.
