Loni Harwood Wins WSOP National Championship

The 2015 edition of the WSOP's National Championship is in the books and the winner is Loni Harwood. Harwood bested a starting field of 122 players, comprised of competitors who actually paid their way into the event the old-fashioned way (the buy-in was $10k) and players who earned their seats via the WSOP-C. The winner's share of the $1.22 million prize-pool was a handsome $341.5k, not to mention the gold bracelet, which was Harwood's second one.
Harwood was forced to miss the 2014 WSOP as she had to look after her ailing mother, but the year before, in 2013, she had had a truly stellar run indeed: she made 3 final tables, finished in the money 6 times and grabbed her first bling in one of the $1.5k
NL Holdem Events. This time, she bested one of the best WSOP-C players heads-up, Alex Masek, who was eventually forced to settle for a $211.6k haul.

The field was definitely not short on "name" competitors: Daniel Negreanu played and he made the final table too. The PokerStars pro eventually ended up in 6th place for a $63.6k prize. Dominik Nitsche was involved in the action as well: he finished in 15th place, missing out on the final table but walking away with a $20.6k prize.
Darryll Fish on the other hand made it all the way to 3rd place, picking up a $152.4k reward.
With this win, Harwood joined an illustrious list of WSOP National Championship winners: in 2013, Dominik Nitsche won the event, for a $352.8k payday. In 2012, Jonathan Hilton walked away with the prize, in 2011 Ryan Eriquezzo was the winner, while in 2010, Sam Barnhart took the gold.
