Luke Brabin Strikes Gold at WSOP-AIPAC

The 4th day of the 2014 edition of the WSOP’s Asia Pacific series was a very hectic one: it was the first day of the Series which saw no fewer than 3 events roll on, and it was also the day which awarded the first bracelet.
Poker pro Luke Brabin was the one who picked up the coveted jewelry, after he won the first event, the AU$ 1.1k NL Holdem Accumulator. The AU$2.2k NL Holdem tournament played through its second day, while the third event which saw action was the AU$1.65k PL Omaha one.

Event #1 saw Luke Brabin start its final day with the largest stack of chips and indeed, he managed to ride that advantage all the way to victory. Victory was all the sweeter for Brabin as this was his first career WSOP gold.
In addition to the trophy, Brabin was rewarded with an AU$131.3k prize, since he had made no deals on his way to the top.
The one he defeated heads-up for the WSOP bracelet was Didier Guerin, whose eventual second place was worth AU$81.2k.

Daniel Murphy was the one who ended up in 3rd place in the event. His haul was AU$59.3k.
A total of 10 players bellied up to the tables at the beginning of the day, and it only took 20 hands for 4 of them to hit the rail once the action got going. The 4 players who bit the dust early were: Kahle Burns in 10th, David Profaca in 9th, Piyush Gupta in 8th and Brian McAllister in 7th.
Zane Ly followed in 6th place, followed in turn by Ryan Hong in 5th and Stephen Lindeblad in 4th.
