Mike Caro’s New Poker Advice

Mike Caro has always been known as the father of modern poker strategy. He is indeed one of the best poker minds and the books that he has published have become a sort of bible for players of the online poker age. Certainly, some of the advice he dishes out in his books may seem dated here and there, but pretty much everything he wrote is must read for those looking to build upon sound basics. Mike Caro has been off the radar for a while, but a genius never rests apparently, not even when he’s away from the spotlight.
The latest Mike Caro piece of poker wisdom is a true gem indeed, in a good way. What the mad genius of poker promotes is that one should think of poker as buying and selling. This mindset – according to Caro – will earn players a lot of money at the green felt.

Whenever someone is faced with a call decision, he/she should think of it as an opportunity to buy something. That something is usually the possibility to win the pot. While thinking like this, all one has to determine is whether or not what’s for sale is priced right.
Caro says that this is the way to make proper decisions, instead of calling on a sudden impulse or folding based on weak evidence. When one begins to see poker as a buy/sell game, and assesses his/her decisions accordingly, his/her decisions will be magically upgraded, resulting in a much-increased flow of profit.

In other news: Ian Simpson has won the 2013 Irish Open and decided to seize the opportunity to propose to his girlfriend. Last year, he finished this same event in 4th place, but this time around, he went all the way, besting a starting field of 505 players.
