The National Broadcasting Company has been instrumental in bringing poker to everybody's living room, and now there's another feather to be added to the proverbial cap.
Between Poker after Dark and the Heads Up Championship, NBC has certainly being doing its bit for poker, but now a new show is being added to the list, and it's going to be great. The new show will be a poker game show and will be hosted by Steve Schirripa who we all remember from the Sopranos. Going by the name of Face the Ace, contestants will go heads-up against professional poker players. Essentially each player will have the opportunity to play against 4 different opponents creating an chance to win a total of $1 million. After each heads-up game the contestant will be asked if he or she wants to call it a day and take his earnings thus far home with them, or to continue to play another Ace, thus risking loosing what they have won, but also gaining the opportunity to win more.
The Aces have not yet been confirmed, but Full Tilt is helping in the search as they are running qualifying tournaments through which players could get selected to take part in the sow as the Ace.
The show will be débuting on NBC at 9 pm ET on August 1st; after 2 weeks in that slot it will be moved to Saturday afternoons.
