Negreanu vs Polk at the Online Tables?

…that would indeed be a sight for sore eyes and the official re-ignition of the online pro vs live pro debate of yesteryear in quite probably the best possible format. What’s that though? Daniel Negreanu playing online?
The whole thing started off an interview in which Negreanu had apparently stated that following about two week’s worth of hard work, he would probably be able to beat the online $$25/$50 tables.
Obviously, the statement was a bold one, but then again, one has to view it in its proper context, which is essentially that it came from the most successful live poker player in the world, at the end of a series of successes (he finished second in the Big One for One Drop and he picked up the 2013 WSOP Player of the Year title), which grant him every right to be confident in his abilities.

Doug Polk, a poker professional known by the online moniker “WCGRider”, took offense to what the PokerStars pro said though, and he expressed his disagreement through a tweet, in which he said he respected Kid Poker, but he found it naïve on his part to think that he could just log in and beat $25/$50.
Obviously, the side of the narrative pushed by Polk is the “harder than it seems” one, and indeed, he may be right on a number of accounts there. As corny as that line of arguments may seem, one has to concede that beating
high-stakes online poker, is in all likelihood far more difficult these days than ever. Poker education is widely available and there are more players who understand the subtle workings of high stakes poker out there than ever. This trend has been present for years, but all logical arguments put aside, it would certainly benefit the industry if the most successful live poker pro took on one of the most successful online pros in a challenge-like format someday.
