Neteller and the company behind it, Optimal Payments Plc, have been among the top online gambling and online poker payment solutions providers for around two decades now. With that in mind, it doesn’t really come as a surprise that Optimal Payments Plc. have been found suitable to act as the payment processor and risk management solutions provider for the licensed online gaming operators in New Jersey, by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.
Neteller had been the preferred payment method for most Americans involved in online poker and online gambling, before the 2006 UIGEA forced the company to forsake the US market. They too – like so many
online poker and gambling companies – have apparently eagerly awaited their return to the US, and now, the opportunity for them to do so has finally arisen.
Optimal Payments have already teamed up with Bally Technologies and Caesars Interactive Entertainment Inc, and they will probably join forces with several of the other New Jersey operators soon too.
Optimal Payments CEO Joel Leonoff was obviously delighted about the deal. He said his company was glad to be back in action in the US and that their experience in the field of risk management and online payments gave them a massive edge over all other competitors.
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has begun awarding licenses to operators in the state at the beginning of this month. The first such license went to Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa. The Golden Nugget, Tropicana Casino and the Trump Taj Mahal have also picked up their licenses already.
While New Jersey will definitely not host the first ever legal real money online poker room in the US (Nevada has beaten it to that), it will be the first US state where online casino games will be legal as well.
