New Additions to Women's Hall of Fame

Posted by: James Carter. - Sun, 2009-05-10 14:41

The Women in Poker Hall of Fame is to get a little bigger next month as three new inductees get introduced in a ceremony on June 5th. The Women in Poker Hall of Fame saw its first inductees in February of 2008 when Mike Sexton presided over the ceremonies as he will do again at the beginning of June. The hall of fame is designed to "honour women in poker who have acquired prominence and who also have made contributions to the poker world". There are today more prominent women in poker than there has ever been in the past, and the numbers seem to just keep growing.

To be eligible for a place in the hall of fame, ladies must have been involved in the industry for at least 15 years, must have made a contribution to the world of poker, and must be a proponent of women's poker. The first four women to be inducted were Barbara Enright, Susie Isaacs, Linda Johnson, and Marsha Waggoner.

The ceremony on June 5th will see three new faces inducted into the Women in Poker Hall of Fame, namely June Field, Jan Fisher, and Cyndy violette. A gala event will be taking place at the Golden Nugget Casino to honour these three women and witness them "take their place in poker history". Tickets for the event are available for $75 for members, and the festivities will be getting underway at 6 pm.

Congratulations to all three ladies; may they be an inspiration to the next generation of female poker players.
