New Contract Spells Bright Future for WSOP

As IMG Consulting and HIE sign a new contract it looks like the WSOP is about to get bigger and better than ever before.
Harrah's Interactive Entertainment (HIE) and their WSOP have been working successfully with IMG Sports and Entertainment since 2005; a relationship that has increased the popularity of the series and worked to create a higher profile for it including the attraction of sponsors from a wider industry base. Last week HIE and IMG Sports and Entertainment were pleased to announce that the relationship between the two was to continue as a 5 year contract was signed, sealing the partnership until 2014.
As well as the continued success that is expected as a result of the partnership, the two parties have big hopes to increase the size of the World Series of Poker, making it even more widely available, and even sending it around the world. In a press release, Mitch Garber, HIE Chief Executive Officer commented:
“We are looking to emphasize the ‘World’ in World Series of Poker as our vision of the brand extends beyond the annual events in Las Vegas and London…By tapping the global reach and expertise of IMG, we are confident that together we can take the brand to new levels on the international stage through new international bracelet events and other WSOP licensed poker events.”
IMG Consulting Senior Vice President and Global Managing Director was full of hope and promise in his statement:
“The World Series of Poker is an impressive property that we believe is well positioned to expand successfully into international markets given the increased activity in the online and offline poker business in key international markets…”
This latest development comes at a time when it seems that Harrah's is also making preparations to branch out into the online poker world: the World Series of Poker might be about to take over the world!
