New Jersey’s Online Gaming Looking Better and Better

It appears that not a single day goes by these weeks without some piece of good news dropping in regards to the player numbers the Garden City’s freshly legalized and
regulated online poker and online gambling industry produces. A couple of days ago, we found that New Jersey overtook Nevada in player numbers, despite the fact that the latter had the luxury of taking a 6-month head start. In the days following the launch of online gaming, various authorities kept a close eye on the number of real money accounts opened in the state and there was a lot of excitement generated by these numbers, despite the fact that they were admittedly skewed by those who opened accounts at several operators.
According to Bloomberg, up until last Monday, a total of 51,352 had been created by players in the Garden State, of which 14,000 had been registered over the weekend alone. In addition to the above said skewed nature of the numbers, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement didn’t say how many of the above quoted accounts had a real money wager placed.
Despite all the excitement, it is therefore clear that the public won’t learn anything truly relevant about the volumes (of traffic and revenue) generated by online gaming in the Garden State up until January, when the first revenue report is due to be released by the DGE.
The New Jersey online gaming market is currently dominated by 6 Atlantic City casinos and their online partners responsible for setting up the actual online platforms for the games. A 7th casino, the Golden Nugget, has been stuck in test-mode since the launch of the real money games, but apparently, it may go live with its own offer or real money casino and poker games next week.
