Out of the 165 players who started in the Asia Pacific Poker Tour’s Seoul event only 16 got to see action on Day 3.
Although the action was relatively cautious through the day, short-stacked players didn’t waste a whole lot of time getting over the do or die bump. It only took a couple of orbits for Robert Campitiello, Terry Gardiner and Michiyuki Condo to bust out in 16th, 15th and 14th spots respectively. Diwei Huang was also sent to the rail very early on.
Dan Schreiber and Hori Katsiyoshi went head-to-head for 12th place with the latter emerging victorious after a coin flip, which saw Schreiber’s A,K go up against Katsiyoshi’s pocket 7s. An ace came on the flop which sealed the deal, sending Katsiyoshi home in 12th.
David Horvath caught a lucky break when he called Kwok Yeung’s all-in with his A,10 against Yeung’s A,K. Although dominated, his hand managed to catch a flush on the turn sending Yeung home in 11th.
The unlucky role of bubble-girl befell Wooka Kim, who shoved all-in an a Ac,4c, against Sam Faqiryar’s 7,4.
The flop gave the latter a pair of 7s, and the river gave them both a pair of 4s, but it couldn’t save Kim who was sent to the rail in 10th position.
Going into the final table action, it was Brian Kang who led the hostilities with 394,000 chips, followed by Hidenari Shiono in second, with 269,000. The other final table participants were: Daniel Schreiber, with 253,500, Yoshihiro Tasaka, with 226,500, Sam Faqiryar (185,000), David Horvath (124,000), Fam Kai Yat (66,500), Daniel Williams (42,000), and Yuji Masaki (13,500). Faqiryar busted out in 9th place, followed by David Williams in 8th.
David Horvath had been bleeding chips for a while, and soon found himself compelled to shove all-in. His 10,9 was confronted by Brian Kang’s A,10 on a board which only brought blanks for both players.
Dan Schreiber exited the tourney in 6th, followed by Yuji Masaki in 5th.
Fam Yat was quick to take his chances shoving all-in against Hidenari Shiono and was eliminated in 4th. Brian Kang fell victim next to Tasaka who had built up a huge chip lead by that point.
Heads-up play between Tasaka and Shiono continued until Shiono pushed all-in on A,4 against Tasaka’s 9,2, for the board to come 8,6,9,J and 3.
