Event #26, the $1,500 Razz one, saw well-known pro Barry Greenstein finish the first day as chip leader. He was in second place at the end of the second day but pulled his act together for good at the final table, as many have anticipated.
The final table saw Chris Viox from Glen Carbon, Illinois with 359,500 chips, Joseph Michael from Austin, TX, with 115,000 chips, Archie Karas, 'The Greek' from Las Vegas with 113,000, Brandon Leeds from Phoenix, AZ, with 206,500, Chris Klodnicki from Voorhes, NJ with 105,000, Mike Wattel from Phoenix, AZ with 75,000, Mark Tenner form Henderson, Nevada with 108,500, and the master himself, Barry Greenstein from Rancho Palo Verde, California with 243,000 chips.
As soon as the final table action began, the small stacks didn’t waste any time and attempted to close the gap up with a set of high-risk calls. These moves soon spelt doom for them though, as they busted out one by one. Mike Wattel was the first to go, followed by 'the Greek’ who fell victim to Brandon Leeds’ A-2-4-5-6. Chris Viox then took matter into his own hands and quickly disposed of a few of the players who dared cross his path. He took care of Joseph Michael first, then eliminated Brandon Leeds before his offensive ran out of steam. The next guy to fall was Mark Tenner, at the hands of Chris Klodnicki, who then sent Chris Viox to the rail as well.
The heads-up stage of the tourney saw a laid-back Greenstein holding a 2-1 chip lead over a very aggressive Klodnicki. Klodnicki realized that being aggressive was his only chance to catch up, and his strategy might’ve worked too, against some other opponent, but it obviously didn’t work against Greenstein.
Besides his third golden bracelet, the win bought Greenstein a prize of $157,619
