Day 1B: Ben Sarnoff finishes in the lead. Ted Forrest busts out before it gets warm

Day 1B featured a rather interesting crowd of celebrities. If Day 1A had a bunch of actors starting, on Day 1B the athletes got going. Orel Herchiser, Shane Warne, and Jeff Fenech were all at the tables, together with Greg Raymer, Daniel Negreanu, Jamie Gold, Andy Black, Robert Mizrachi, Eric Seidel, Erick Lindgren and Humberto Brennes. The first bust-out of the day was at least as spectacular as that of Day 1A: a set of kings failed to get the better of four nines, one of which landed on the flop and one on the turn.
Ted Forrest’s elimination came at the end of another spectacular bad beat. His pocket deuces made the set on the flop, only for Giles Smadja to take it all down with a royal flush he made on the river.
Andy Black got his stack in on pocket jacks, only to lose out to a pair of sevens and one of fives on the flop.
Sets seemed to be the main culprits for busting out many of the big poker names this day. Scott Fischman flopped a set too, went all-in, got called by an opponent who landed a flush and sent him packing.
Kenny Tran left too, followed by Daniel Negreanu and David Levi (both losing out on sets against higher sets).
Greg Raymer busted out when his 8,8,5,5 failed to hold up against an opponent’s Q,Q 5,5. One of the most interesting hands of the day was when a player busted out on four 4s when his opponent made four Qs on a board of K,Q,4,Q,4.
Ram Vaswani was railed too, followed by Jamie Gold. Kenna James and Lee Watkinson would be felted too later in the day. Not all of the big names left though. As a matter of fact, Robert Mizrachi finished in 3rd place on the chip count with 142,400 chips, a little short of Ben Sarnoff’s 177,500.
Barny Boatman, Robert Varkonyi, Marcus Golser, Eric Seidel and Erick Lindgren were all among the survivors too.
