EPT London Main Event Day 3 report

Day 3 of the PokerStars.net EPT’s London Main Event saw 32 players start, amongst whom Scotty Nguyen, Max Pescatori and Day 2 chip leader, Philippe D’Auteuil.
As the action kicked out it was none other than Scotty Nguyen himself who headed to the rail first. He pushed his short-stack all-in on a pair of 7s, only to be called by an opponent with Q,Q. Scotty got no help from the board, and was thus eliminated in 32nd place in possession of a £13,052 cash prize.

He was soon followed to the payout line by Sorel Mizzi and Beth Shak. The former seized the opportunity and went all-in on a pocket hand of Qs,Ks only to be confronted by Michael Martin’s pair of 7s. Since the board brought no improvement for either of the parties involved, Mizzi was forced to head for the rail in 27th place.
Michael Martin was also responsible for the bust-out of Ian Frazer, in 25th position. Martin’s A,10 made short work of Frazer’s A,3 on a board of A,7,4,6,2.
Huseyin Tilmaz got into a three-way tangle with Max Pescatori and Frode Gjesdal, to leave the tournament tables in 21st place.

The way things were going after the break, a Max Pescatori – Michael Martin confrontation looked bound to happen. Sure enough, the two soon ran into each-other in a classic case of the perfect hand. Pescatori flopped a third king to his pocket pair, while Martin did the same for his pocket rockets. Pescatori led out the betting, and was quick to call all-in when Martin went over the top in response. The river did nothing to change the situation and thus Pescatori got eliminated on a set of Ks in 15th place.
David Benyamine, one of the three Frenchmen who dominated Day 2, busted out in 12th place, followed by Peter Busch in 11th.

The final table was nailed down when Eric Liu eliminated Erik Sjodin in 9th place.
The other final table participants are: Johannes Strassmann, Antony Lellouche, Michael Martin, Alan Smurfit, Michael Tureniec, Martin Horecki and Philippe D’Auteuil.
Tureniec leads the provisional chip leader board with 1,331,000 chips, followed by Eric Liu with 1,308,000 and Antony Lellouche with 1,022,000.
