Event #17 of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series saw a massive 1059 players belly up to the tables despite the hefty buy-in of $300+$22.
The 6-max short handed event offered an obvious advantage for skilled players, and this fact was well reflected in the results: Ram Vaswani finished in 8th spot, pocketing a prize of about $25k, Nick Schulman finished 10th for $18k, as Chris Moorman and Robert Williamson III both caught good money positions in 13th and 19th respectively.
The final table participants were IWEARGOGGLES, Masterhp, Claw1980, MishkaT, Eisenhower1 and GetPWN3D, with the chip lead belonging to IWEARGOGGLES and the short stack held by Masterhp.
The first major move of the final table action saw the chip-leader move all in on his pocket jacks against Claw1980's A,Q. None of the hands improved with the board, which meant Claw1980 was eliminated in 6th taking home a little over $41k.
The next to exit the tournament was Eisenhower1. He shoved all-in on Kd,7d when the blinds reached 14k/28k, against IWEARGOGGLES' A,9. The board brought no improvement to either of the hands involved, thus Eisenhower1 was forced to settle with the $63k and 5th place. Kevin “GetPWN3D” Saul soon sprung into action too. He trapped Masterhp's A,6 with his AA, and as stacks went all-in preflop, Masterhp soon found himself with no outs. The board failed to yield any miracle cards for him, so he busted out in 4th.
The three-handed stage began with MishkaT almost losing his whole stack to Kevin Saul, as his A,J failed to connect with anything against Saul's A,K. He soon made up the lost ground though as he doubled up both on Saul and on IWEARGOGGLES to get back into the game. Saul again built up a large chip lead when he eliminated IWEARGOGGLES, but MishkaT soon caught up and turned the tide. The last hand of the game was MishkaT's Q,T against Saul's J,4. As MishkaT connected for the nut straight, the tourney was over.
First prize was $251k.
