The FTOPS' $500+$35 buy-in Main Event got under way with 4,880 participants. The two day event featured a prize-pool of $2,500,000 with a first prize of $432k, so quite naturally the buy-in/potential prize ratio turned out to be excellent.
Several better known names finished near the top of the rankings. Kelly Kim caught 16th place, Franklin Hardy finished 15th, with Lee Childs in 11th and Faraz Jaka in 10th.

The final table featured the following players and chip stacks: Pokerguru19 was the short-stack with 1,252, 960 chips, sckilla had the chip lead with 5,646,087. In between the two, there were TheTotalPkg, tvcsa, hemlock 1313, TiltinShoes, valleyho, dubbeemin and aaaFRANCESCOzzz. TiltinShoes was the first player to bust out from the final table. He was unfortunate enough to get A,K in the hand in which dubbeemin was dealt a pair of Aces. As he pushed all-in, and the board brought no improvement to either of the hands involved, he finished 9th and took home a prize of $32,500.

aaaFRANCESCOzzz was the next casualty. He hit all-in on a hand of A,5 and got called by Pokerguru19 with a pair of Jacks. The board did bring along an A to turn the tables on the caller, but it brought a J on the turn to play a nasty trick on aaaFRANCESCOzz and eliminate him in 8th place. Tvcsa left when he got a pair of aces in the cut off and tried to trap Pokerguru19 in the BB who had K,10. When the hand concluded however, it was Pokerguru19 who had the last laugh: he made a kings full of 10s to crack tvcsa's Aces wide open.

The next fatal clash happened between hemlock1313 and valleyho, with hemlock1313 getting the short end of the stick. Sckilla busted out in 5th place, followed by Pokerguru19 in 4th. The final three battled for quite a few hands before they managed to eject TheTotalPkg. Heads-up play began with dubbeemin holding an overwhelming advantage over valleyho. He eventually managed to take full advantage of his chip lead and ejected his opponent on a Q,J vs K,10 match-up.
