It didn’t take long till the bubble burst in event #40, the $2,500 2-7 Triple Draw one. Only six players needed to be railed and the unfortunate role of bubble boy fell onto Trung Ly, who got felted by Claude Cohen. Trung’s J-7-6 went up against Cohen’s J-7-5 and the former left the tourney in the worst possible place: 25th.
Bill Chen was the one to follow him in 24th, but at least he cashed. Low stacks began shoving all their chips in after the bubble burst, and that led to a bust-out frenzy.
Von Altizer was one of the victims, after her fortune turned around completely following her strong Day 1 showing. She went up against Raymond Davis and made a pair of sixes which meant the end of the event for her.
Chau Giang’s bust-out was one of the more spectacular ones. He made a 7,6,5,3,2 which obviously prompted him to push all-in, but then Billy Baxter made a wheel (7,5,4,3,2) and Giang found himself sent to the rail as well.
James Copeland busted out 13th, leaving 2 full tables to battle it out for the bracelet.
Dario Aliotto finished in 12th. Greg Raymer got hit hard losing two big hands to Gioi Luong and Mike Wattel respectively. Seriously crippled, Raymer eventually fell at the hands of Richard Chase, finishing in 11th.
Richard chase himself followed in 10th, with Mike Wattel ending up in 9th and Steve Sung in 8th.
Despite having barely made it to Day 2, Billy Baxter fought valiantly, and made it all the way to 7th.
Thus the final table was set. John Phan is chip-leader with 294,000 chips, followed by Gioi Luong with 291,000 and Robert Mizrachi with 21,000.
David Sklansky will be the short-stack at the final table with 78,000 chips.
