Those who like to rail ultra-high stakes tables at Full Tilt Poker were in for a real treat the other day at the $200/$400 PL Omaha venue. Sure, the action is usually pretty tense and a delight to watch for most poker enthusiasts as it is, with some of the world’s best professional players turning around sums that represent a year’s salary for most of us, in a matter of a few minutes. The $200/$400 PLO tables are always an attraction for railbirds, but this time, things got seriously out of control.
At the initiative of Patrik Antonius, participants began raising and eventually going all-in preflop on every hand, letting Lady Luck pick her favorite amongst them and putting their decision-making skills on rest for a while.
On one such hand, Gus Hansen, Steve Sung, Patrik Antonius and the other players involved raised the pot up to $100,000 and then checked it down all the way to showdown. The flop came Qd, 4d, 9c, with a 7d on the turn and a 3d on the river.
The board gave Hansen a pair of threes, Sung 2 pairs (sevens and nines) as player pr1nnyraid (Jay Rosenkrantz) also made two pairs Qs and 9s to win it all.
The flips continued for the following 15 hands leaving onlookers mesmerized at the volume of money changing hands on each showdown.
The outcome appeared to have favored John Juanda who walked away with $280k more than he sat down with, according to witness accounts. Jay Rosenkrantz fared well too.
If you were wondering what some of the top professionals did at Full Tilt at the high stakes tables, well, you know now. Of course this wasn’t anything more than a stunt meant to attract attention, and in that respect, I must admit it worked well. After all, here I am writing about it. Remember, you too can watch such action unfold live if you sign up to Full Tilt poker and open one of the highlighted pro tables in observer mode.
