Negreanu on the warpath for yet another WSOP bracelet… Will he get it?

Arguably one of the most interesting WSOP events so far turned out to be the event #20, the $2,000 Limit Holdem one. Daniel Negreanu is playing in this event, and his fans will probably be glad to know that he’s well under way towards winning his 4th bracelet. Today (June 12) was the second day of the event, the day that the field comprised of 125 first day survivors would be further reduced to the 9 eventual final table participants.
Let’s take a look at some of the most important moments of day 2: Negreanu started the day in 4th place, with Daniel Makowsky leading the way with 50,000 chips followed by Eric Buchman with 46,500. Phil Hellmuth, An Tran and J.C. Tran were also in the field. Negreanu’s day was a rollercoaster ride. First his A,J got hit by Babak Razi’s pocket Jacks to send him near the bottom. A few hands later though, he was back at 40,000 courtesy of Derek Lerner, and then further increased his stack at Marc Lewis’ expense.
Hellmuth busted out near the bubble, but 46th position and the official title of ‘bubble boy’ went to Mike Patrick who had managed to pamper an extremely short stack all the way up to the respective position. After the break, people started busting out left and right, and Negreanu, who went to lunch on 100,000 chips, soon found himself on 36,000 again.
David Lerner ‘came to his rescue’ though, and by ‘donating’ a substantial part of his stack to Daniel, he helped him back up the chip-count to 190k. Start-of-the-day chip leader, Daniel Makowky busted out in 10th place, and after 15 hours of grueling action, the day was finally called.
The final table participants are: Hien Tran, David Baker, Jeremy Kottler, Daniel Negreanu, Ugur Marangoz, Fu Wong, Derek Lerner, Greg Wohletz and Richard Li. Chip leader for day three is David Baker with 409k, Negreanu is third with 308k. Time to place your bets on whether Negreanu will see that 4th gold jewelry around his wrist tomorrow or not.
