Meet Wooka Kim, Everest Poker’s ambassador to Asia

Quite an extraordinary online poker player, Wooka Kim (online alias: icebeer) is a Japanese female professional who joined Everest Poker in 2006. During her very first year as an amateur player she amassed a bankroll of over $90,000, which speaks loads about her skills and abilities. Earlier this year she was faced with a unique opportunity: Everest poker was pushing its Live the Dream promotion, at the end of which one lucky (and skilled) player would be chosen to represent the site at world-wide live events from March 2008 right up till March 2009. From among thousands of contestants, it was Wooka Kim who got picked to fulfill her dream of living like a professional poker player for a year.

By the looks of things Everest’s choice was an extremely wise one. Kim would not only represent the company colors with dignity, she would end up in the money in such prestigious events as the WSOP’s Big Dance. In this year’s WSOP Main Event she reached 530th place, which was well in the money and which earned her a prize of $25k. She’s also had success in the Asia Pacific Poker Tour and Asian Poker Tour events in Macau. As a matter of fact, the next few stops on her schedule include those very events.

The APT’s Macau stop will be hosted by the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino, and it’ll take place between the 27th and the 31st of August. Buy-ins to the Main Event will cost $5,300 and around 500 players are expected to participate. All that will probably give birth to a very nice prize-pool indeed.

The APPTs Macau stop will happen between September 1st and 9th and it will feature a main event with a buy-in of $3,200. The prize-pool is expected to exceed $1 million, and that will definitely give Kim the chance to cash in a spectacular fashion once again.
If you fancy joining Kim on at least one of her live poker adventures, sign up to Everest Poker now. They offer a variety of packages to live events around the world, and most of their qualifiers do indeed feature excellent EV+.
