WSOPE Event #1 Day 2 report

Day 2 of the WSOPE’s $1,500 NL Holdem event saw 90 players return to the green felt to do battle for the chips and ultimately for a share of the prize-pool involved. Adam Junglen, the young American player who had finished Day 1 in the chip lead, managed to hold on to and eventually extend his lead by the end of the second day. He finished with a massive 795,000 chips, followed by John Dwyer in second place with 511,000.

Many big names dropped out of the tournament along the way, and many other freshly surfaced names have confirmed. Erik Seidel, Daniel Negreanu, Shaun Deeb and Michael Binger all busted out, some of them in the money others just short of the bubble. Yevgeniy Timishenko, the fresh APT Macau winner made one more final table though, and he’ll be starting Day 3 with 345,000 chips.

Isaac Haxton became one of the first victims of the day as he shoved all-in on his pocket Qs against Adam Junglen’s A,Q who got hit by another A on the board.
Michael Binger’s pocket rockets fell to an opponent’s pocket 3s in spectacular fashion. The board brought about 2 more 3s to make it a four of a kind for his opponent.
Erik Seidel was forced to head to the rail just a few positions off the money bubble. His A,K was confronted by a caller’s Q,Q and he failed to improve as the board came 3,6,8,5,9.
The pace of eliminations froze a tad on the bubble, but as soon as the bubble burst, leaving Peter Linton in the unfortunate position of bubble-boy, it picked up again.
Daniel Negreanu made it all the way to 24th place, but then he got into a showdown with Christoph Bommes who threw an A,K at his 9,9 on a board of 8,K,4,2,Q thus sending him to the rail.

Jason Grey and Andy Bloch followed soon. Bommes was the player who fell just short of the final table, being eliminated by Yevgeniy Timoshenko in 10th place. The final table participants will be Timoshenko, Dwyer, Junglen, Ian Woodley, Jesper Hougaard, Linda Lee, Neil Channing, Daniel Nutt and Fuad Serhan.
