Nick Maimone Wins 2016 PCA $25k High Roller

The 2015 edition of the PCA's $25k High Roller was by all accounts a major success: no fewer than 225 buy-ins ended up in the prize-pool, of which 173 were unique ones, while ~52 were rebuys. The prize-pool was $5.4 million, which meant that the winner would walk away with almost $1 million. Indeed, Maimone, the eventual winner, took home some $996.5k for his efforts. Sean Winter was the one Maimone defeated heads-up. The share of the runner-up was $914.5k.
Maimone is a player primarily known for his online poker accomplishments. The American has moved to Honduras a while ago in order to be able to continue playing online. His lifetime earnings totaled some $881.2k, so this haul obviously blasted them clean out of the water. The 2016 PCA in general was rather kind to him: he finished 87th in the LAPT Bahamas Main Event, to take down $4.1k and he made it all the way to 5th place in the NL Holdem 8-handed Turbo Bounty event, for a $10.5k reward.

Italy's Dario Sammartino finished deep in the high roller as well: he ended up in 3rd place, with a $542k haul to show for his efforts. Other people who took down handsome prizes were Josh Beckley, whose 4th place was worth $439.5k, Brian Yoon (who finished 5th for $347.7k) and Andrey Zaichenko, who took home $264k for his 6th place.
The final day of action saw 9 players return to the tables, each and every one of them already safely in the money. It took almost two hours for the first one to bite the dust: Anton Astapau was the first victim: his 9th place was worth $116.6k. He was followed to the rail by Ben Heath and Chance Kornuth.
