The €10.3k high roller of the
EPT’s Season 10 Sanremo stop saw 8 players return to its tables on Sunday, with the goal of playing down to a winner. The initial starting field was 105-buy-ins strong, of which 88 were unique competitors in addition to 17 re-entries.
The final day of action was a short one: it only took the remaining field – made up almost exclusively of “name” pros, three hours to play down to a winner. Ole Schemion, the previous leader of the GPI’s top 300 ranking-list, was the one who walked away with the goods, after he bested a starting table which included players like Griffin Benger, Max Greenwood and Alex Bilokur.
Schemion’s victory was worth €265k. The one he defeated heads-up for the title was Max Greenwood, whose reward was €182.1k.

Philip Sternheimer was the player who started the final day of action with the largest stack. He was also the one to draw first blood at the final table, by sending Imed Ben Mahmoud packing. The two players got their chips into the middle on a pocket rockets vs A,Qo match-up and the rockets held.
The Tunisian was followed to the rail by Tamer Kamel and Griffin Benger. Mustapha Kanit was the player who finished in 5th place.
The start of the day chip leader, Philip Sternheimer, faded away in 4th place. He ended up with a €96.7k prize. Alex Bilokur was the third-place finisher. He picked up €119.4k for his efforts and his elimination set up the heads-up stage of the
poker tournament.
When the heads-up action commenced, Schemion held the chip lead, and soon he busted one of Greeenwood’s bluffs to further extend that lead.
The last hand of the event saw Greenwood’s As, 4s fall to Schemion’s A,Jo.
