Online Cash Game Action – Luneau, Cates Week’s Biggest Winners

This week, the
online tournament action was hot at PokerStars’ SCOOP, but that failed to keep Full Tilt Poker’s usual clientele away from the high stakes cash game tables. At the end of the week, two players emerged with massive profits. Alex Luneau was the biggest winner of the week, having finished some $390k above the red line. Daniel Cates had a pretty good week too. His profits totaled $232.6k.
While the two winners do indeed qualify as “name” players, and that’s probably an understatement there, the losers’ list far outshined the winners’ lineup: Phil Ivey was among the losers, as was Gus Hansen (not really a surprise that one), Phil Galfond and Patrik Antonius.
The biggest loser of the week was Paul Phua though, who dropped some $603.3k, having played about 1.3k hands spread over 6 different sessions. Phil Ivey – who had been among the losers last week too, to the tune of $113k – lost big as well: he dropped $589.7k, having played a staggering 5.9k hands spread over 61 different sessions.
Gus Hansen, the perpetual loser, and the year’s biggest loser thus far, dropped $358.2k this week. Phil Galfond joined the donors’ side with a $275.9k “contribution”, while Patrik Antonius finished $221.8k in the red.

Alex Luneau, the biggest winner, scored most of his profits on Wednesday, when he logged some sweet 2-7 Triple Draw action against Ivey, Hansen and Antonius. His profits from the day’s sessions totaled $201k, and it only really took him about 20 minutes to reach that number.
That day, Blom lost about $100k to Ivey at the 8-game tables, while Kyle Ray took almost that much off Ivey at Fixed Limit Omaha 8.
