Online Poker Action – Blom a Winner Again

Viktor Blom, Full Tilt Poker’s notorious Swede, kicked off the New Year with a string of losses, the latest of which was a $587.5k pill which he had to swallow last week. This week though, he finally managed to get on Lady Luck’s good side, and in his own trademark high-variance style, he finished as the biggest winner, behind an impressive haul of $812.3k for which he played 16,922 hands spread over 165 different sessions.
There were other winners this week too, although none of them came even close to Blom’s performance. Ben Tollerene finished $435.1k richer, although granted he played a lot fewer hands than Blom: his total was 2,613 hands, over 20 sessions.
Niklas Heinecker, last year’s
biggest online poker winner, made the winners’ list too, with $200.3k. Efficiency-wise, he was probably the best player of the week, since he only played 1,493 hands spread over 8 sessions for the above said haul.
Wherever there are winners, there have to be losers as well of course, and this week, the losers’ list was rife with some of the usual customers. Gus Hansen made the losers’ list yet again, having lost $191.1k, over 26 sessions totaling 1,416 hands played. The Great Dane was not the biggest of the losers though. The top honors in this respect went to Alexander Kostritsyn, who lost a massive $707k, having played 3,387 hands over 37 sessions.
2Ari Gold also made the losers’ list this time around: he lost $219k.
A lot of Blom’s profits came on Tuesday, when he logged a couple of sessions against Kostritsyn at the $1.5k /$3k 8-game tables and at the $1k/$2k 8-game ones.
Blom’s run started off on the wrong foot: he lost some $73k to begin with, but he then bounced back and finished a $279k winner.
