Viktor Blom and Alex Millar had both had superb runs before deciding to lock horns on Thursday and Friday, at the $400/$800 NL Holdem tables at
Full Tilt Poker, and when two go heads-up, only one winner shall emerge.
The winner who emerged in this instance was Millar, who took around $771.5k from Blom, seriously cutting into the latter’s bankroll, taking all his previous week’s profits, plus some more money on the top.
Both players had finished the previous week with massive profits. Blom had been $694.3k above the red line before the above said confrontation. Millar was a much bigger winner: he had pocketed more than $1.25 million, and he added Blom’s $771k to that. At one point during their match, Blom was $400k ahead, but in the end, it was all Millar.
The biggest pot of the match-up was a $380.4k whooper, which ended up in Millar’s possession of course. Of all starting hands, Millar had a 2,7, albeit suited, against Blom’s 8,6o and the board ended up giving him a two pair against Blom’s open-ended straight draw.
For the Swede, the damage wasn’t even limited to what Millar took from him. He had actually dropped some $267.8k to Isaac Haxton earlier in the day.
Having absorbed the above said hits, Blom slid pretty far off the biggest cash game winners of the year top spot. He still has around $2.4 million in profits though. The biggest winner now is Kyle Hendon, with $3.2 million. Ben Tollerene, Alexander Kostritsyn and Patrik Antonius have cut ahead of Blom as well.
The biggest loser of the year thus far is MalACEsia, under the red line by about $3.7 million. Gus Hansen isn’t far behind either: he lost around $3.69 million. Phil Ivey and Scott Seiver are among the losers as well.
