Online Poker Action – Blom Week’s Biggest Winner Again

Viktor Blom’s insane online poker swings are well-documented and they have grown into a staple of the online poker cash game scene over the years, the same way Gus Hansen has become the perennial loser. The Swede kicked off 2014 with a $500k down-swing. Losing that much money is nothing to worry about for someone who’s good friends with extreme variance though. Last week, he finished the biggest winner, taking down profits totaling some $800k, recovering all his previous losses and racking up some profits on the side. This week, his hot run continued. He finished the biggest winner of the week again, this time with a profit of $794.7k. To pocket that money, the Swede played 15,250 hands, spread over 98 different sessions.
Ben Tollerene was a big winner too, although this week he fell short of the mark set by Blom.
His profits tipped the scale at $610.9k, not at all shabby, especially considering the fact that this haul took his 2014 total to $1.36 million, making him the most profitable online poker cash game player of the year. The most impressive thing about Tollenere’s profit for this week was the fact that he only logged 1,765 hands for it, spread over 27 sessions. That makes him much more effective at amassing chips than Blom.

Gus Hansen, a perpetual presence on the weekly losers’ lists, finished with a $463.7k loss again. He wasn’t the biggest loser, in fact there were two players who lost more than him, but this latest meltdown took his career losses to $16 million, a truly incredible number for the rank-and-file crowd as well as for the high stakes professionals. The biggest loser title went to Kyle Ray, who lost $753.9k. Alex Millar lost quite a bit too: he dropped $659.5k.
