Online Poker Action – Blom’s Heater Comes to an End

After an initial 2013 run, Viktor Blom faded into the field, hitting a nasty losing streak. As if to provide a case-study on the streaky nature of online poker, he then went on a massive winning spree again, which only came to a halt this week. With the FTOPS XXII ongoing, it wasn’t exactly a surprise that some of the high stakes regulars chose to stay away from the cash game tables this week. Blom wasn’t one of them, but his presence wasn’t enough to lively up a week which turned out to be a rather slow one after all.
The biggest winner of the week was “Sanlker”, who ended up with a profit of $469.7k – a rather faint haul in comparison with those taken down by the winners of previous weeks.
Phil Ivey also managed to close out the week with a profit: he took home $274k. Patrik Antonius and Alexander Kostritsyn also finished above the red line. Jens Kyllonen made the winners’ list as well, accumulating around $290k at PokerStars.

The biggest loser of the week was Viktor Blom. The no longer mysterious Swede took a hit of about $662k. On Monday, Blom was in the midst of the action: he played SallyWoo at the Omaha Hi/Lo tables. In about two hours, he ended up dropping $209k to his opponent, after which he switched to the $500/$1k NL Holdem tables playing Sanlker and he fired up a couple of PLO tables too against Ben Tollerene. He lost in both sessions, dropping around $271k at the NL Holdem tables and around $95k at the PLO ones. Sanlker ended up as the biggest winner of that day, followed by SallyWoo.
On Tuesday, most of the high stakes action moved to PokerStars.
