Online Poker Action – Business as Usual: Blom Wins, Hansen Loses

Viktor Blom’s 2013 online poker ride hasn’t been one for the faint of heart. He started out on the right foot, stitching together a few massive winnings streaks, but he then got hit by variance and at one point he found himself under the red line. He rebounded though and it didn’t take him long to catch up with the Biggest Online Poker Winner of the Year position again. This past week was basically a smaller-scale re-run of his entire year variance-wise: he ended up about $344.1k under the red line, but before that, he had pretty much ruled the tables for a spell, winning no less than $1.3 million over a single day.
The losers’ list looked like a hall of fame of online poker, with Patrik Antonius and Gus Hansen joining the Swede on it. They both lost more than Blom – something which the poker community has pretty much grown to expect from Hansen. The Great Dane dropped an astonishing $1.3 million over 6,222 hands totaling 30 different sessions. It almost goes without saying that the biggest loser of the year has been Gus Hansen for a while now, and his latest meltdown pretty much sealed the dubious title for him this year.
Antonius lost 478.8k, having played 1,240 hands spread over 12 sessions.

Wherever there are losers, there have to be winners too of course, otherwise where would all that money go? This week, the biggest winner was “kagome kagome” who pocketed $824k. Niklas Heinecker was the second most profitable player: he finished with 773.4k, having played only 3,004 hands spread over 16 sessions.
Alex Millar has been quite profitable lately too: last week, he logged a profit of $687.3k, which he now followed up with a $403.2k haul.
